I have created a video tutorial below to show you how to set up your cut file for this project using Cricut Design space. Select the text button and start typing the name that you would like on your project. You can change the font from the drop down menu at the top of your screen. Resize and move the text over the black ribbon in the design.
It helps to change the color of the text to something other than black so that it can be easily seen. On the next screen, be sure to mirror your project. Place a piece of transfer tape on top of your stencil and peel the backing off. Place onto the underside of your baking dish. Starting from the center, press down and move to the outer edges. Important: Before moving to the next steps, be sure to remove any bubbles or gaps in your vinyl. I cannot stress this enough!
I know this can be challenging to work around some of the ridges, so do your best. Put your gloves on and any other safety equipment remember to read the safety instructions on the etching cream bottle and start applying your etching cream to the glass using a popsicle stick or paint brush.
Tip for best results: Move the etching cream around during the minute etching period. This will result in a more even, less streaky application. With this gift, there are several ways to reduce the price by simply looking for sales and using coupons at your craft store. And after making your design, it really only takes about 15 minutes to complete!

Share 1. Pin Not only are they so easy to use and to clean up, but they can make great gifts too! After creating your design, it only take about 15 minutes to complete!
Each Homemade Gift has to meet 5 stipulations in order to maximize your money and make it easy for a busy mom to do: Easy to obtain supplies — Supplies are things you might already have on hand or are easy to find at Walmart or a craft store so you can get them in the same day you want to make it.
Easy to make — Supplies are easy to work with or use so that anyone could do it… not caustic… so you could do the craft with your kids. Saving Money Double Bonus : Try to think about what you already have on hand to upcycled and save more money. Option 2: Contact Paper Find or create a design you want to use on your Pyrex baking dishes. So carefully center your stencil and smooth it into place. If there are raised letters on the bottom, be sure to seal the stencil as well as you can around those.
Add tape around the edge of the stencil to help protect the glass from accidental etching. Put on your gloves!! Add the cream according to instructions. Then stir it up to mix the crystals in. Pour some out and use the foam applicator to move it around. I did this for 5 minutes for these. When the five minutes is up rinse the cream off.
Now I think I have the confidence to do it! In terms of centered placement, using the hinge method just like putting a screen protector on a cell phone would probably be very effective. Align the design as wanted before removing any of the backing. Then, using a piece or two depending on size of the design of tape along one edge of the transfer paper, create a hinge.
Once you have the tape hinge attached to the surface, peel the backing off from the stencil and carefully flip the design back into place. Use the scraper as normal to seal the design in place. Remove the tape along with the transfer paper before etching. These are great tips and pointers, Zipporah! Thank you for spelling them out in such detail. What a wonderful resource for others!
Thanks Lauren, very helpful, just wondering is there any way of getting coloured etching cream or some how colour the etched surface? Let me know if you discover the answer! Great tips Lauren! I tried glass etching for the first time a few months ago and used your original casserole post as reference! Not as scary as it sounds, especially if you carefully read the instructions and take the right precautions. Wow, Lauren! Thanks for this FAQ. I have not entered into the world of etching yet and am glad you put this together so I can refer to it.
I love the pie dish—so beautiful! This is a great FAQ Lauren! I have yet to try etching but I will come back and read this before I do. Pinning for future reference. Great post Lauren. Thanks for referring to my etching post!! Thanks for rounding up all the etching questions, too.
